What do we grow?

Anthony is an experienced farmer who has worked the earth (and played with tractors) for over 40 years.

In the UK he grew apples for hard cider and dessert alike, a few hundred acres of black currants as well as everything from brussel sprouts to barley.

In the US he grows an enormous variety of fruits including peaches, berries, apples, tomatoes, currants, and squash.

With his wife Fenella's help, the seasonal help of their kids and neighbors, and the unique growing conditions West of Mt. Monadock he is able to produce excellent quality fruit and service.

We try to minimize the use of chemicals whenever possible and are fortunate that blueberries, our main crop, require very little chemical application at all.

We work with an IPM (Integrated Pest Management) expert, and we make sure that all our fruit is safe to eat as soon as you have picked it because that is part of the fun of PYO.

All our vegetables are fertilized with farm compost - the goats aren't just fun to pet, they help us grow massive tomatoes!

HIGH-BUSH BLUEBERRIES (not wild ones) blueberries We have 11 acres of cultivated blueberries (larger and more fleshy than the "wild" blueberries that are farmed in Maine). Our varieties are Earliblue, Blue crop, Blue Ray, Collins, Berkeley, Elliot, Coville, Nelson and Brigitta. The season is from mid-July to early mid-September or the first frost.
RASPBERRIES raspberry We grow 4 acres of summer and fall raspberries. We grow some Killarney, Prelude, Boyne, Revele, Autumn Britain, Caroline, Polaner and Joan. Their season is from mid-July until early August then late august through mid september. We love raspberries and grow them at all four farm locations.
BLACK RASPBERRIES black raspberries We have 4 rows of Jewel black raspberies. Their season is generally at the end of July. Check our hours page to see what is ripe and what the conditions are like. Black raspberries are NOT THE SAME as wild blackberries, they are earlier, larger, jucier and sweeter.
RED CURRANTS red currants We have 3 rows of Red Lake red currants.
BLACK CURRANTS black currants We have 5 rows of Titania and Ben Lomond black currants.
GOOSEBERRIES gooseberries We have a row of Poorman and Careless as well as a row of Tixia and Invicta. They tend to crop more than we know what to do with!
VEGETABLES (NOT for PYO)

tomato

We usually grow between 150 and 200 tomato plants in our hot house a long with a few european cucumbers.
PLANTS plants

Please see our variety guide for a full description of all the plants we grow and sell, and check out the planting and pruning guide for information on how to look after them. We are often open by appointment in the spring and fall, outside our normal opening hours. Please call us and give us plenty of warning as we run 2 seperate farms!
