Berry Picking Tips

•  Bring a belt to loop through the handle of your bucket, then you can pick with both hands.

•  Bring a hat and sunscreen because it can get hot out there!

•  Use bug spray if you come in the evening.

• You can bring your own containers to pick into, but we have to weigh them before you use them.

•  Please don't put blueberries, raspberries or currants in the same container, they are different prices per pound.

•  It is better to pick when the berries are dry, unless you are picking them to make jam or can dry them soon.

•  Lift up the raspberry and blueberry branches, the best berries are hiding inside & on the bottom of the bushes.

•  The green berries (unless they are gooseberries) are GROSS because they are not ripe.

•  It is better to pick raspberries in the morning, as they are very popular & get picked out.

•  Why not bring a packed lunch and eat it on out picnic tables or deck?

•  If you squeeze the blueberries they will be dark blue and mushy when you get home.

•  Don't be lazy! The further down the field & the rows you walk, the better the picking will be.
• Trash and bucket liners do not help the bushes grow :-(
•  Don't be alarmed at birds noises, they are our "Squawk Boxes" to deter the birds from pecking the berries.
•  Taste your bush before you pick, make sure it is ripe.
• Bring a cooler if your berries will be spending the day in the car after you pick them.
•  Have fun!
